Project Manager - Data

Minneapolis MN

Contract through 2019

The Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of the delivery of complex projects within a program and is expected to communicate project status, risk, mitigation and timeline. This position reports to the IT PMO and works closely with other project/program managers, Data Analytics leadership, and business stakeholders.

This position will provide project management expertise in the delivery of several key and complex data and analytics projects including data warehousing, advanced analytics, infrastructure enhancements, and implementation of new ETL, reporting, and analytic platforms. A successful candidate will have a strong leadership, advanced problem solving, and communication skills. Experience in data and analytics projects in an Epic EHR or healthcare environment strongly preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Develop and manage to a detailed level project plan.
    • Make sure that projects are delivered on-time and of high quality.
    • Plan staffing and request resources as appropriate.
    • Maintain issues log and work through escalation process.
    • Identify risks and recommend risk mitigation.
    • Identify and escalate scope issues.
    • Collaborate with peers and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate effectively at all levels of the program.
    • Ensure delivery of project documentation.
    • Compliance with requirements, standards and processes established by Project Management Office.
    • Manage project teams of Business Analysts, Data Analysts and Modelers, Technical, Training, and Documentation Specialists, ETL staff, and BI developers.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven project management professional, with 8-10 years project management experience and 10+ years’ work experience.
  • Experience with data warehousing, advanced analytics and reporting is required.
  • Healthcare industry experience with Epic EHR environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading with flexibility and diplomacy while managing implementations in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding among IT, operations and clinical stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating work and schedules with other projects within a program and with client’s teams (Operations and IT) outside the program.
  • Proven teamwork and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and delegation abilities.
  • Effectively establishes and maintains working relationships at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics Visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Qlik, IBM InfoSphere (Datastage), SAP Business Objects BI platforms is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in working with analytical/reporting tools and leading others in these functions.
  • Strong analytical skills to include competent understanding of statistical significance, multivariate techniques, and correlation analysis.
  • Proven experience working with relational databases and big-data environments
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and fundamentals is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years related experience, including experience with data analysis, project management and reporting, preferably in healthcare setting.
  • 10+ years of hands-on overall experience with Data Warehouse technologies within the domain of ETL/data integration, Business Intelligence, and relational database management systems.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
